Marketing

I hate marketing with a passion.

Keeping Rapture and The Long Way Around will be released in a few months time. I officially know that Keeping Rapture will release first and then The Long Way Around will follow, probably two months after. So, I’m thinking about marketing. I don’t do well with marketing. I’ve always had this problem. I just haven’t found the solution to the problem yet. I’m not a social person and I do terrible on FB. I’d love some more friends who’d interact. Or maybe even make my own group. Who wants to be in a group with me?

I don’t want to do any more blog tours. For me, they have been a waste of money. I HATED contacting blogs with Finding Rapture to ask if they’d post something for me. I HATED it with a passion. So, the real question is, how do I make my books visible? Blogs must post on FB in this day and age for a romance book to be visible. Some people may think I didn’t spend enough time contacting the blog, BY NAME, NICELY, and hope for a post. Oh, I spent hours upon hours doing that with a computer that sucked even more of my time. I had to borrow my mom’s iPad to make my own teasers. I used my phone and emailed the blogs that wanted to be emailed, messaged the ones who wanted to be messaged…ETCETERA.

Okay, all of that sounded like a rant. It wasn’t meant to be.

I need people to read Finding Rapture (The Bitten Book 1). Otherwise, no one will read Keeping Rapture (The Bitten Book 2).   Would anyone like to read Finding Rapture? I’ve had people who told me they loved it. So far, no one hated it. Although, I’m sure some people could hate it – that goes with the territory.

I’m just looking for new options that won’t cost me an arm and a leg. Anyhow, here are some teasers, just for the heck of it.

Looking back…

Tonight I needed to get some facts straight before I can finish or continue on with Keeping Rapture. I grab Finding Rapture (book 1) off my shelf, open it and start searching.

In both Finding Rapture and Keeping Rapture there is a bodyguard who plays a big role, though he doesn’t speak very much. His last name is Turner. Tru calls him ‘Turner’ throughout the entire first book. Therefore, so goes Georgia. She even asks him why he never calls him by his first name. Tru’s answer: Habit? Honestly, he answered that way because I couldn’t remember his first name at the time I wrote the scene.

Then it continued. Turner, Turner, Turner. Then second book: Turner, Turner, Turner. I finally had to look it up. His name is CRAIG TURNER. I made a note – in my notes(haha!) – in big bold letters. So now maybe I’ll remember. Oh, I’ll remember it all right.

So, something is about to happen to Turner and it kinda freaks me out…but whatever. I’ll be writing it tomorrow because now I’m tired and it’s bedtime. My mother drug me out shopping all day long. I didn’t get much writing done but at least I found out Turner’s first name….CRAIG!

Oh, and one more thing… Go check out IABB on Facebook…. you know, Indie Authors and Book Blogs. Now. DO IT!

Okay, nighty-night!

Looking back…

Too long!

I’m a terrible blogger! It has been 5 months since I last posted 🙁. I almost always say I’ll try harder and it never works out that way. I have way too much happening in my life than to worry about posting a blog. But there was also my computer issues. My computer sucked and took forever to do anything. So, now I have a new piece of equipment and I’m ready to roll!

So…updates, updates, updates!!! Both Surviving and Finding Rapture are on sale right now for $.99!!

Keeping Rapture (The Bitten, book 2) is still being written, though since I finally have a decent way to write it shouldn’t be much longer before it is finished! Marisa at Cover Me Darling has finalized the cover and I just need to send her the blurb for the back cover. And let me just tell you… she always does such a great job! I’m not sure however, how long it will be for me to give her the blurb. I really should get to doing that. Maybe I’ll work on that today….

ANYHOW! The next and biggest thing is that I have another book coming out soon, maybe even before Keeping Rapture! It is called…. The Long Way Around. And guess who I got the cover from??? That’s right! Cover Me Darling! I really adore her work. I’ll give you all the “coming soon” preview as soon as it’s available. I realize that I’ll probably eventually get another cover from someone else but I don’t want to think about that right now. So, here is what you need to know about The Long Way Around… the blurb. Here it is…

The Long Way Around by Jennie LeAnn

New Adult Romance

Leslie Neal’s goal in life is to make a difference. Despite the path of destruction her parents have thrown her on, she vows to be better than them. When Mr. Lewis, Leslie’s teacher, saves her from a savage beating, she makes him promise never to tell.

Against his conscience, Scott Lewis keeps his promise to Leslie. In protecting her, he becomes her mentor, friend, and the only person she trusts. Over time the more he helps Leslie, the more he grows to view her less as a student and more as the woman he loves. However, he will never betray or harm her, so he will wait for her, even if it means waiting years…or forever.

It’s a burden he willingly bears.

As years pass, Leslie struggles to keep her love for Scott hidden. He is her best friend…and used to be her high school teacher. How could he ever love her that way?

Their love and trust in each other is tested as they take the long way around to finding their happily ever after.

Too long!

Story ideas change and form-updates

So, Keeping Rapture (The Bitten, Book 2) was supposed to be a book that wasn’t too dark and something that wraps everything up with Tru and Georgia. Well, let’s get really technical…there wasn’t supposed to be a 2nd Tru and Georgia book at all. The 2nd book was supposed to follow Dan and Sophie. Dan and Sophie wants a book SO BAD!! But so does Tru and Georgia. They have finally shed light on the 2nd book and I hope I can keep it all straight!

I don’t like writing in the summer. I tried but I just couldn’t do it. AGAIN! The same thing happened to me last year and the year before! I think because my family travels so much that I can’t keep my head in the story. There is a so the fact that my young son is home during the summer. That probably contributes a lot to my not writing. I’ve decided that I’m going the leave the summers as my reading time. I LOVE to read. It makes me happy. And I just can’t read a book while I’m in the middle of writing a book. If I start reading I get distracted and ideas start forming in my head and then I want to change my storyline. So, no reading while writing books!!

I gave you a small hint in the first paragraph that Keeping Rapture may be slightly dark or at least darker than Finding Rapture is. And guess what? Yep, it’s gonna be a doozy. Right off the bat the story has action. I’ve heard that may not be a good way to go… Well, we’ll see. If I have to change it, I will – but id rather not.

So, the BIG question is… When will Keeping Rapture be published??? Well, let’s just say I hope by the end of the year. The cover is scheduled to be done in December. I hope and pray that everything works out! It’s not just about when I’ll be finished writing it. I’ll probably be finished writing it before the cover is done (unless by some miracle).

The good thing is that the next book (book 3) should be published that much sooner. And the revisions to Surviving will be finished and published soon too!!

I should really make myself a calendar. Hmmmm…I might try that.

Alrighty, I need to get to writing!

Finding Rapture Release Day!

Good People/Good Designer

*Breathe* Finding Rapture releases in 4 days.

I feel the need to share about the great people I have come across in my journey to publish Finding Rapture. I like to give credit where credit is due. In this particular post I’m not going to go on and on about my amazingly, wonderful editor, or my awesome beta reader. I am going to tell you about my cover designer and how she went above and beyond what I thought she would.

My cover was a “Premade” cover by Cover Me Darling (Marisa). Often (though, not always), Cover Me Darling will use her own photography for premades and her custom covers.

Here is the original cover: **All pictures are copyrighted by Cover Me Darling**

When I saw this cover I had to have it and I bought it extremely quickly. The only thing I didn’t like was the model’s tattoos. My character doesn’t have tattoos. Luckily, when I asked if they could be removed, Marisa didn’t mind at all and did it without complaint. Very quickly Marisa returned the cover to me. I loved the way it looked with my name and Finding Rapture at the top. We only had to fix the title font once and again, we had no problems. Eventually (as in, a couple of weeks later), I got my blurb to Marisa and she put it on the back. It looked so…blah… I hated to ask if we could fix something AGAIN, but it was no problem to the amazing Marisa. She put some curlicues and prettied up the font on the back and all was right in my world.

Here is the final wrap cover:

The story doesn’t end there.

A few more weeks passed and finally, I had the page numbers to my physical book and sent it in to Marisa. And she sent the wrap cover back within a couple of hours. Honestly, it might have even been within an hour, I can’t remember – but I do know that it was quick. When I got the first proof of my physical book I wanted to jump for joy but then…something was off… The cover was so dark it looked weird. 😦

I hated to tell Marisa…but I had to. I thought…what if this happens to someone else? How will Marisa know that these shadows are causing problems? So I told her and GUESS what? She fixed it. I hated to ask her to do that. Because…I bought a premade cover. It is the way it is, right? NOPE. Did she ever ask me for more compensation? Nope.

I got the 2nd proof copy in and I almost cried. The first copy was glossy. The second one I got in matte. Matte is the best choice for me.

Here are the proofs: 1st proof is on the right. 2nd proof is on the left. It was definitely worth it to ask her to lighten it up/remove the shadows. I know Marisa would only want her best work out there.
